HISTORY
Circa 1976-Present

The Battery Bar is a family business which has its beginning as a true Island Bar located in the centre of Adelaide Arcade. The Battery Bar was started in 1976 by Edward (Ted) Olsson who worked in the small three meter by two meter bar for the next 11 years. On the retirement of Ted Olsson his son and current Director Greg together with his wife Anne Olsson, have continued the family nature of the business. This looks to be ongoing with Dylan and Toby Olsson joining the business over the last few years. The “Island Bar” has now grown to the Adelaide Super Store.
The Battery Bar has continued to show it’s self as a very strong and profitable business through its ability to constantly look for new, interesting and useful products combined with exceptional customer service to offer a shopping experience that larger retailers cannot even hope to match.
With our focus on saying “yes we have that ……… in stock”, the Battery Bar holds in the order of 10,000 stock items, covering items as diverse as tooth picks for Swiss Army knives, cables for PDAs, overhead projector globes and vacuum bags for all makes and models. This focus on product knowledge coupled with an extensive stock range is then critically supported with the very best customer service to reinforce our difference from other retailers.
The Battery Bar has continued to grow by examining what it is that our customers want, recruiting the best people and having fun doing our job. Our future will continue with these basic concepts and it is critical that all employees, franchisees and directors are active participants in this philosophy “we need to live the dream”.
